Skip Kimpel is a recognized thought leader and technology evangelist in the restaurant and hospitality industry. He currently serves as the CEO and President of Magicgate while also holding the role of Global Director of Restaurant Technology and Innovation at GAIN Associates. With a career spanning multiple leadership positions in technology, Kimpel has played a pivotal role in driving innovation and operational excellence across the industry. Most recently, he served as a Senior Consultant for an organization specializing in operational optimization and technological advancement for restaurant and hospitality operators.
Kimpel has been responsible for shaping strategy and operational technology across all facets of the business, from individual restaurant operations to corporate-level initiatives. He firmly believes that data is a company's most valuable asset, enabling informed business strategies and proactive decision-making.
In addition to his industry expertise, Kimpel is the creator and host of The Tech Chef Podcast, a leading resource for restaurant and hospitality technology. The podcast is widely recognized for delivering the latest insights on operational and technology-driven solutions that address the evolving challenges faced by brands today.
Skip actively sits on the Board of Governors for the Restaurant Technology Network (RTN) as well as the marketing and allied member committees and previous board member for the Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association (FRLA). He is also the Chapter President for South Florida of the VR/AR Association (VRARA) and is the chair for their Hospitality Committee, member of the XR Association as well as a Founding Principal Member for the Metaverse Standards Forum. He is heavily involved with anything that is hospitality technology driven and has been instrumental in creating industry standards as well as the restaurant industry’s first standardized open API. He is passionate about emerging technologies involving XR applications, AI and spatial computing as related to the restaurant and hospitality space.
